What is PropertyLayer?

PropertyLayer lists 3,141 available county products across all 50 states and the District of Columbia, containing more than 162 million property records in the September 7, 2026 catalog snapshot. The records come from county assessors, recorder offices, and GIS departments rather than modeled property attributes. A property record runs to 100+ fields. Ownership, assessed value, sale history, zoning, tax records, land use and boundaries all come from the county. On top of that PropertyLayer joins in USDA Cropland Data Layer, elevation, FEMA flood zones, and contiguous acreage under the same owner. Where a county’s assessment system has been collected, the response also carries the full assessor record: valuation history year by year, every recorded transfer, per-building construction detail, tax bills and exemptions. That record is the property record. Data fields has the whole dictionary.

How it works

Start with a geography. Submit a GeoJSON polygon to POST /properties/area and you get back every property whose parcel intersects it. From there, pass the returned bpd_uuid values to POST /properties/query for the full records. You can also skip the geography step entirely and filter on any queryable field. For a single property, GET /properties/point takes a lat/lng and GET /properties/address takes a street address.
